Western Ferries crossing the beautiful Firth of Clyde between McInroy’s Point at Gourock and Hunter’s Quay at Dunoon. MV Chieftain at Kilcreggan
On a bright, sunlit day on the Firth of Clyde, the MV Chieftain ferry makes her familiar crossing — arriving from Gourock, pausing gently at Kilcreggan, and then slipping quietly back across the water. This short film captures a simple, timeless rhythm of the Clyde — light on water, the hum of engines, and the quiet connection between two shores. Set to an original, Enya-inspired piece, the film reflects the calm, beauty, and continuity of ferry life on the west coast of Scotland. Operated by Caledonian MacBrayne, the Chieftain is more than just a ferry — it’s part of the daily story of the river.

Paddle Steamer Waverley
A slow, cinematic portrait of the Paddle Steamer Waverley sailing on the River Clyde. Filmed with an unhurried eye, this short film follows Waverley as she moves through familiar waters and quiet stretches of river that have watched her pass for generations. More than a vessel, she carries memory, craftsmanship, and the enduring relationship between the Clyde and the ships it once built. This film is not a history lesson, but a moment of reflection — on time, continuity, and the simple dignity of a ship still doing what it was built to do. Best watched with sound on, and time to spare.

The Renfrew Ferry
This short video reminds us of the history of the River Clyde and the importance of the last ferry crossing from Renfrew to Yoker. The Renfrew Ferry was a passenger ferry service linking the north and south banks of the River Clyde in Scotland. The service, operated by Clydelink without subsidy, crossed between Renfrew and Yoker, close to Glasgow City Centre and is the last Clyde crossing this far upstream. The crossing, between the area of Yoker in Glasgow and the town of Renfrew in Renfrewshire, is only 200 metres, with graded slipways on each side. The service operated between 6.30 am and 9.30 pm, being on-demand at peak times and half-hourly at other times.

Glasgow Science Fiction
🎬 Glasgow Science Fiction – a surreal, musical love letter to the city where the ordinary turns cosmic. When the Finnieston Crane takes flight and the Cone on the Duke begins to glow, Glasgow slips into a night of time-warps, ghosts, and wild imagination. Subways spin in endless circles, Barrowlands spirits dance, and the Clyde flows purple beneath a strange new moon. Set to an original song that blends sci-fi, humour, and heart, Glasgow Science Fiction celebrates the city’s soul — its people, its legends, and its beautiful madness. 🪐 A Clyde-side addiction. 💫 A Glaswegian conviction. 🌃 We’re all creatures of Glasgow tonight. #Glasgow #ScienceFiction #ScottishFilm #ClydeSide #MusicVideo #GlasgowArt #IndieFilm

Bill’s Will – a dark comedy short about love, legacy, and the man who won’t stay dead.
When four women gather in a solicitor’s office for the reading of Bill’s will, old grudges, guilty secrets, and unfinished affairs bubble to the surface. But as the paperwork unfolds, something else begins to stir — a voice from beyond, amused and vengeful. Set in a single room, the film blends sharp dialogue, dry humour, and a touch of the supernatural. Think Mike Leigh meets The Others — where control, confession, and chaos collide. Written by: Bill Crookston Camera: Arthur Hughes Directed by: Bill Crookston Cast: Valerie, Linda, Sister Kate, Myla, John, and the unseen Bill. Genre: Dark Comedy | Supernatural | Short Film Location: Scotland

First and Last
The entry by the 48 Hour Flickers into the 48 Hour Film Project Glasgow 2024 competition. We drew the genres Romance and Slice of Life - we initially thought Slice of Life but after a few hours our team scriptwriter John Spence thought that a Romance would be much easier to fit the required three items that had to be in the film. Premiered on the 24th October in the Glasgow Film Theatre (GFT) Our film was the last film to be shown - First and Last. A huge thank you to KilmaTaj Restaurant in Kilmacolm and the Kilmacolm Scouts for the use of the scout hut. @48Scotland
